ShiftStack
The arithmetic

For US bedside nurses · RN and LPN

Your paystub is
probably wrong.

One 12-hour shift can carry eight different rates. Federal law says every differential must be folded into your regular rate before overtime is calculated. Hospital payroll gets this wrong systematically, and your stub never shows the arithmetic.

ShiftStack recomputes one pay period shift by shift, tells you what it appears short by, and writes the letter to payroll.

§ 01The problem

Eight rates. One Saturday night.

A normal shift: nights, weekend, charge because the unit was short, floated because another unit was shorter, and the lunch you never sat down for, deducted anyway.

Payroll almost always fails on the last row. It multiplies 1.5 by the base rate of $38.00 instead of the regular rate of $44.375. Every overtime hour in the period is short by the difference, and no line on the stub shows it.

Verdict · 3 Findings

This period appears short by

$79.63

If this period is typical, that is about $2,070 across the 26 paydays in a year. Federal law allows two years of lookback, three if the underpayment was willful.

Free in the product: this figure and every Finding named. Paid: each dollar traced to a shift and a rule, plus the Payroll Letter with your dates and figures already in it. Payment comes after the number, never before.

An empty hospital corridor at 4am, lights dimmed to night mode.

§ 03 · When it happens

The week payroll gets it wrong is the week you floated twice, ran charge on a Saturday night, and never sat down for lunch.

That is also the week the arithmetic is hardest, which is why nobody has ever done it for you. Squinting at the stub does not work. The stub is a summary, and payroll is the party that owes you the money.

§ 05Who built it

A nurse who has been shorted every way on this page.

ShiftStack was built by a BSN with more than twenty years at the bedside. Differentials dropped when she floated. Charge pay missing from shifts she ran. Unpaid orientation hours, wrong holiday rates, on-call pay that never appeared, and lunches deducted that she never got to take.

Not a payroll vendor. Not a law firm. Someone who knows which line on the stub to distrust, and can now prove it.

Boundary 01

No patient data. Ever.

This is a pay tool, not a clinical tool. There is no field for a patient, a unit or a diagnosis, and there will not be one. That is why it has no HIPAA surface.

Boundary 02

We are not your lawyer.

ShiftStack hands you the arithmetic and a document. We never act for you, never contact your employer, and never promise that the money comes back.
